Antique 1898 TRANS MISSISSIPPI AND INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION GOLD MEDAL BOARD

If you know what this is, please let me know!  I purchased it at a recent estate sale just because
it was beautiful and interesting.  I first thought it was some kind of a map holder, but
all the pictures are about Kimball pianos.  Looks to me like it was meant to hold something!
Check pictures carefully - they are beautiful!
If you enlarge the 2nd picture, you'll see what looks to me like a fingerprint in the gold paint or
maybe a scrape on the transfer?  I apologize for my lack of knowledge about this and would
welcome any information you are willing to share so I can make my listing as complete and
accurate as possible.
