Description

This unit was removed from a working facility that recently closed. Comes with console, power cord and user guide. I have a test handpiece and was able to test all functions. Some minor blemishes in the paint that do not affect the functions of the machine at all.

Description
This 2008 Aquamantys System is in excellent cosmetic and tested working condition. I have a test handpiece and was able to test function. (see pics below). I guarantee it will not be DOA.
Comes with the Aquamantys Console, power cord and User Guide. Basic operating instructions are on a pull out card underneath the console. There is a peristaltic pump on the side. It has a irrigation priming feature, 3 flow rate settings and power settings from 20 to 200. Uses a single patient use handpiece. Various models are availble from the manufacturer depending on the surgery. I often see the handpiece kits being offered on ebay.

The Aquamantys system is a bipolar sealer which delivers radiofrequency energy and saline simultaneously to a surgical field in order to provide haemostasis or sealing across an exposed tissue or bone surface. The process heats tissues to around 100 degrees centigrade, much less than for standard electrocautery, shrinking the collagen in the walls of the tissue vessels and producing less smoke. This has been called Transcollation technology.
The device has been used in many applications including knee replacement, hip replacement, spinal surgery and the resection of solid organs. It is promoted as an effective way to facilitate knee replacement without tourniquet. Use of the device lead to less blood loss after knee replacement in a study by the developers (Marulanda et al, 2009). A recent randomised study did not show a benefit in hip replacement in fit patients (Barsoum et al, 2011).
A number of handpieces are available of varying size, and at least one of which is illuminated.
Condition & Testing
Excellent cosmetic and tested working condition with some sign of normal use in the form of a couple small paint chips on the top and edges. I have a test handpiece and used this device on a piece of bologna to show it is working. (see pics below) Power was obviously increased the higher the setting. The Flow rate is working with the irrigation increasing the higher the setting. The pump and priming feature is working.
