For Sale is a Foldback Kit for BOTH Upper & Lower manuals of a Hammond M-3 Organ
Make your M-3 sound like a B-3!
Since 2010, I have sold Foldback Kits to over 200 satisfied eBay Buyers.
Unlike Hammond consoles (B3, C3, etc.), Hammond spinets don't "foldback" (or repeat)
the
higher frequencies at the upper ends of the manuals.
e.g.: On a spinet, pull out the upper two or three drawbars for the upper manual
then play some notes in the highest octave of the upper manual. You won't hear anything!
That's because Hammond used three, shorter-length busbars in the spinets and
also eliminated the contacts at the upper ends of the manuals.
There are more tones missing other than in the above example.
On the Upper manual, foldback affects the uppermost 1-1/2 octaves when using the upper FIVE drawbars.
On the Lower manual, foldback affects the uppermost octave (C-C) when using the upper FOUR drawbars.
You should have soldering/desoldering skills to install this kit.
You should also have knowledge of the servicing and/or the removal
of the manual chassis
from your M3.
This kit contains six flat, full-length busbars and enough
contacts (plus some extras)
to foldback both
manuals of an M3 organ.
The only way to get the busbars and contacts needed is to remove them from a "donor"
organ.
Therefore, be aware that these items are all used, but they are usable.
I pack the contacts by frequency, noting which keys and/or Harmonic busbars they are to be installed to.
I pack the busbars between wood lathe for safety in shipping.
You will need to clean the busbars before putting to use.
