Sergiev Posad (Zagorskaya) matryoshka appeared at about the beginning of the 20th century in the area of the same name. This type of handicraft is characterized by a squat body shape in a ratio of 1: 2 (width to height ratio), as well as a smooth transition from the top to the bottom. Environmentally friendly varnish and gouache are used as the coating material.
The author's nesting doll "Zagorsk cockerel ", consisting of ten dolls that fit into each other, is a vivid and original example of a folk craft product, made according to centuries-old traditions by masters of the Trans-Volga side known throughout Russia.
